“$200 Bounty” stemmed from a project where we were tasked with creating a visual narrative – which was great because it is my dream to be a concept artist. I work in a bar and sketched what would become the two main characters on a slow shift and it developed from there. Something I love about my job is the ability to see the whole bar from where I stand and the ability to engage with many different people and hear stories about their lives. This mixing of stories is what initially inspired my concept and after that, I infused it with my love for all things western. I wanted to tell a story with a singular image by establishing a complex scene and a multitude of character personalities. By paying attention to small details in the background, one can infer the story of the two main characters in the foreground. Along with this, there are other “subplots” developed through the people in the background, and some physical characteristics can help the viewer with understanding their personalities. Overall, this piece was mostly about having fun for me, and practicing for my dream career.
